For the past several years, The Goddard School of Forest Hill, where I teach, has supported the Food Pantry by sponsoring "The Souper Bowl Food Drive". This year's teams are the New England Patriots and the LA Rams. Families and staff are asked to bring in non-perishable food items to support their team of choice in the Super Bowl and, in turn, the Food Pantry. This has become a wonderful teaching time for the children as they are learning about outreach with a hands-on approach. This year the Pre-K classes will also be making "Care Bags" that will contain needed items such as; (combs, hand-wipes, snack packs, small water bottles, etc.) that can also be placed in the Pantry cooler. The children have been working on a list of items they feel might be useful and have come up with some pretty awesome ideas. The families enjoy picking their favorite team and watching the cans stack up, it gets pretty competitive. Goddard invites everyone who would like to participate to drop off a food donation at the school, 460 Granary Road, Forest Hill, MD. So, I am putting out a challenge to everyone to have your own "Souper Bowl" challenge. If you are hosting a party, ask your friends to bring canned food items; or put the challenge out to your co-workers to bring in non-perishable foods. Please post and let us know what you are doing for this great ministry. We would love to hear from you.

Show your team spirit and support your community!
